The Global Compact:
what is it?
The Global Compact is an initiative of the former general secretary of the UN, Kofi Annan, in 1999. This new chart was established in New York in 2000.

The signatories (companies, United Nations organizations, the world of work and civil society) agree to comply with 10 fundamental principles concerning human rights, employment rights and the environment.

10 fundamental principles

Like all the other signatories, by adhering to the Global Compact, ACOME is committed to:

1. developing and respecting human rights as recognized internationally,

2. not lending a hand in the violation of any fundamental rights,

3. complying with the exercising of freedom of association and recognizing the right to collective negotiation,

4. eliminating every form of forced and mandatory labor,

5. abolishing children's work,

6. eliminating discrimination in terms of employment and the exercising of a profession,

7. developing a careful approach to major problems affecting the environment,

8. taking the initiative to the benefit of more responsible environmental methods,

9. encouraging the definition and dissemination of environmentally friendly technologies,

10. acting against corruption in every form, including the extortion of money and bribery
